Facebook has launched Messenger Rooms for unlimited video calls with up to 50 people as group calls feature is getting famous among masses due to the prevailing situation of COVID-19 lockdown across the world.

Facebook Messenger had video chat feature already, but it limited the total number of people who can be participated on the call and also it is to be required that all the people must have Facebook account to join the call.

But with this update people can join a Room through the Messenger app without having a Facebook account. Those who don’t have a Facebook account can still join – they’ll receive a link to the Room you have created. With one click they can then join the conversation – just like with Zoom. Importantly, Messenger Rooms has no time limit whatsoever.

Whatsapp to increase group call limit

Billions of people are confined to homes due to the  Novel Coronavirus pandemic, various apps like Google Duo, Zoom, Messenger and Skype have taken advantage of this opportunity as people are doing video calls with their friends and familly.

Amid Coronavirus outbreak the use of messaging apps significantly increased to communicate with loved ones.

On the other hand Facebook has assured their users that it does not listen to users’ calls and the privacy of their users cannot be breached.

According to Facebook, more than 700 million users make daily audio and video calls on the Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp, and in some countries the call rate has doubled during the Coronavirus epidemic.
