PSX edges up 41.40 points, closes at 32,464 points
The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) has witnessed a gain as KSE-100 index closed at 32,464.23 points with a positive change of 41.40 points (0.13%) as compared to 32,422.83 points on yesterday.
According to the details, a total of 239,873,143 shares worth Rs10.289 billion exchanged hands as compared to the trade of 339,154,639 shares worth Rs15.387 billion during the last working day.
At least 336 companies transacted shares in the stock market, out of which 172 recorded gain and 136 sustained losses whereas the share price of 28 companies remained unchanged.
The oil and gas sector weighed down on the index as Brent crude tested a 21-year low and the cement sector continued to outperform on anticipation of increased demand after the government lifted restrictions on the construction industry.
Today’s top gainers were Indus Indus Dyeing, up Rs36.75 close at Rs526.75/share, and Rafhan Maize, up Rs24.43 to finish at Rs6,560/share. Bata Pakistan, down Rs101.25 to close at Rs1,448.75/share, and Sapphire Textile, down Rs49.99 to close at Rs750.01/share, were the main losers.
Maple Leaf Cement recorded the highest volumes with a turnover of 47.720 million shares and gained Rs1.2 to end at Rs27.99/share. The lowest volumes were witnessed in Pakistan Elektron recording 5.385 million shares, whereas the scrip gained Rs0.02 to end at Rs22.79/share.
