COVID-19 Pandemic From Pakistan and Around The World
All educational institutions will remain closed even after 1st June 2020. However, teachers serving in private schools are not given salaries. Federal Minister for Education Shafqat Mahmoud had conducted an Inter-Provincial Education Ministers Conference on Wednesday. In the online meeting, officials exchanged their thoughts that educational institutions should not be opened from 1st June.
The Sindh government had sent the summary for extension of powers of Rangers for 90 days in the province, which was approved by the federation. According to the statement, Sindh Rangers have given special powers in the entire province, including Karachi, under Section 4 (3) of the Anti-Terrorism Act 1997 for 90 days.

Qatar’s state-owned flag carrier Qatar Airways is making speculations to slash a significant amount of jobs due to the travel disruption caused by the novel coronavirus pandemic. The company in its notice told the cabin crew to prepare for redundancies. The notice did not say how many jobs would be cut. Earlier The airline’s chief executive, Akbar al-Baker, said: “We have enough cash to take us through a very short period of time,” adding that it would eventually have to seek support from its owner, Qatar government. Qatar Airways is one of few global carriers to continue operating after the coronavirus outbreak reduced global travel demand drastically over the past weeks.

A high-level meeting of four important departments chaired by Senior Punjab Minister Abdul Aleem Khan has decided that the departments of Food, Agriculture, Irrigation, and Livestock should be on one page for which the Secretaries of these four departments would evolve a joint strategy. A working group has been formed which will formulate recommendations for short and long term policy to make the province self-sufficient in the Food Sector.

The final decision will be taken on May 8 after getting approval from Prime Minister Imran Khan. Sources said that the Ministry of Railways has prepared a summary of partial resumption of train operation from May 10.
