Farmers face struggle to harvest, sell Melon crops due to lockdown

Amidst the coronavirus lockdown, Farmers are unable to pluck and sell bountiful harvest of melon due to transportation and labor shortage.

According to media reports, local farmers are suffering due to lack of access to the market.

Farmers say the melon crop is ready, but vehicles are not available to take it to market due to the lockdown and private cars owners are demanding high rates.

The farmers further said that millions of rupees have been spent on the melon crop, but now it has become difficult for us to meet our expenses from this crop. If so, If the crop is not harvested, the melon is rotted by  Locusts attack or lying on the ground.

Local farmers have demanded the government to ease the lockdown so the crop will get access to the markets.
