Hizbul Mujahideen chief Riaz Naikoo along with his associates were martyred during the cordoned off operation conducted by the Indian Army in Pulwama district of Occupied Kashmir.

According to the reports of Kashmir Media Service, a secret operation was carried out by the occupying Indian Army in Baigpura village of Pulwama district on the information of the presence of Hizbul Mujahideen chief in the area, Hizbul Mujahideen chief commander Riaz Naikoo and his associate Adil Ahmed were martyred.

According to KMS, two more youths were martyred in another clash.

Riaz Naikoo was appointed as the Commander-in-Chief of Hizbul Mujahideen after the martyrdom of Burhan Wani in 2016.

After the martyrdom of the Commander-in-Chief of Hizb-ul-Mujahideen, a wave of grief and outrage spread across the valley and people came out of their houses in protest. The Indian Army used force to disperse the protesters, injuring several people.

Occupying administration has tightened curfew in the Valley following the martyrdom of Riaz Naiko and shut down internet service.

On the other hand, the All Party Hurriyat Conference paid homage to Riaz Naiko and other martyrs and appealed to the people to come out in large numbers and attend the funerals of the martyrs.

The Hurriyat Conference has declared a strike in the occupied territories against the incident and demanded the people to offer funeral prayers in absentia for the martyrs in their cities and villages on Friday.
