The number of confirmed coronavirus infections in Pakistan is nearly 60,000 after new cases emerged in the past 24 hours.

The National Command and Control Centre (NCOC) in its latest figures cleared that the coronavirus infections toll in Pakistan has hit 59151 after 1446 new infections emerged in the past 24 hours. 

According to the national dashboard, 434 new cases were recorded in Punjab while 151 new cases were reported in the federal capital. 21,118 cases have so far been detected in Punjab, 23507 in Sindh, 8259 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 3536 in Balochistan, 1879 in Islamabad, 638 in Gilgit-Baltistan, and 214 in Azad Kashmir.

19142 patients have so far recovered from the virus while the death toll stands at 1225 with 28 deaths recorded during the last twenty-four hours.

According to the national dashboard, 10 new deaths were reported in Punjab in the last 24 hours, while one each was reported from Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Islamabad. The casualties in Pakistan now stands at 1225.

Earlier Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Senator Faisal Javed Khan said coronavirus relief fund has finally passed four billion marks.

Senator Faisal Javed has issued the new statistics of the coronavirus relief fund. He broke the news through his official Twitter account. He said in his tweet that more than 4 billion have been collected so far to deal with coronavirus pandemic in Pakistan.

It is pertinent to mention here that The World Health Organisation promised a speedy review of data on hydroxychloroquine, apparently by mid-June, after safety interests indicated the group to exclude the malaria drug’s use in a large trial on COVID-19 victims.

“A final decision on the harm, benefit or lack of benefit of hydroxychloroquine will be made once the evidence has been reviewed,” the body said. “It is expected by mid-June.”
