The global pandemic of Coronavirus is gaining momentum in Pakistan with each passing day and so far the total number of confirmed cases in Pakistan has reached 53,601 while the death toll has risen to 1,123.

So far today (May 23), the virus has been confirmed in 1,498 more people in the country, while the number of people recovering from the virus has risen, according to official figures provided.

Note that 2,516 cases of coronavirus were reported in Pakistan yesterday (May 22) and 35 deaths were reported.

The first case of coronavirus in the country was reported in Karachi on February 26, 2020, various restrictions imposed to curb its spread and later a lockdown was imposed,  9th of this month lockdown was softened a bit.

Initially, the spread of the virus was slow after the first case of the global pandemic was reported in the country, but with the passage of time, it has been on the rise and now a thousand or more cases are being confirmed daily.

In terms of cases, the number of corona patients in Pakistan from the first case on February 26 to the end of April was more than 16,000 and the death toll was 385.

However, since the beginning of May this year, there has been an increase of more than 34,000 cases and more than 700 deaths in Pakistan, indicating a worrying situation.

Sindh

A further 762 cases of coronavirus and 14 deaths were reported in Sindh today.

Explaining the details of cases in the province, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah said that in the last 24 hours, 762 people were diagnosed with the virus and the total number of cases reached 21,645.

He said there were 14 more deaths in the last 24 hours, bringing the number to 354.

Punjab

The Punjab Health Department confirmed 275 new cases of Coronavirus, bringing the total number of infected people to 18,730.

A spokesman for the health department also confirmed that 14 more people had died in the outbreak, bringing the death toll in the province to 324.

He said that a total of 197,225 tests have been conducted in the province so far.

Islamabad

With each passing day, the number of coronavirus cases in the federal capital Islamabad is increasing rapidly.

A further 131 cases of the global pandemic were confirmed in Islamabad today, according to the official Coronavirus website.

With the increase in these cases, the number of people affected in Islamabad has increased from 1,326 to 1,457.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Department confirmed 294 more cases of COVID-19, bringing the number of victims in the province to 7,685.

The statement also confirmed eight more deaths from the virus, bringing the total to 389.

Balochistan

The Balochistan Health Department confirmed 108 new cases of Coronavirus, bringing the number of victims in the province to 3,306.

The statement said that the number of active cases in the province is 2407 while 860 patients have recovered.

Gilgit-Baltistan

5 more cases have been confirmed in   Gilgit-Baltistan today.

According to official figures, the number of affected people in Gilgit-Baltistan has risen from 602 to 607 after new cases.

Azad Kashmir

Azad Kashmir has been the least affected by the virus so far, but the number of patients there is gradually increasing.

According to statistics, 13 cases of coronavirus were reported in Azad Kashmir, bringing the number of infected people to 171.
