Prime Minster Imran khan said that he wants the nation to observe this Eid in a different manner from the usual celebratory style.

While giving his message on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr 2020 PM Imran said, “First, let us think of & pray for all those families who have been deprived of their loved ones by the plane crash tragedy & all those who have lost their lives to COVID19.”

“Second, everyone must remember to observe the SOPs in place for COVID19. The disease is with us & social distancing must be strictly observed throughout the Eid holidays, including during Eid prayers. May Allah bless our nation,” the premier added.

Note that, Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated with full religious fervor on Sunday, 24 May in Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Egypt, UAE and Kuwait, other Arab countries and the United Kingdom, the United States and Australia, followed by many European countries, including most Arab countries.

The joy of Eid in the Islamic world has waned due to the ongoing pandemic. On the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, which lasts for three days, Muslim citizens travel long distances to visit their families. A variety of food is prepared in the houses and the visitors keep coming and going in the houses throughout the day. But this time, millions of Muslims will not be able to enjoy the joys of Eid as they are confined to their homes.

Some Muslim countries have eased lockdown restrictions on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr . However, Muslim countries have appealed to the public not to leave their homes in view of the threat of the Coronavirus pandemic.

Governments have also urged the public to offer Eid prayers in their homes and to refrain from socializing. Limit travel and mobility, avoid going to markets, beaches, parks, shopping malls and recreational areas.

In Pakistan the atmosphere is also gloomy as yesterday the ill-fated Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) A320 Airbus en route from Lahore to Karachi crashed in a residential area near Jinnah International Airport Karachi.
