The Sindh government, like the federation, has announced a six-day Eid-ul-Fitr holiday from May 22 to 27.

According to notification from the Department of Services, General Administration and Coordination, the provincial government announced public holiday from May 22 to 27 (Friday to Wednesday) for the holy festival of Eid-ul-Fitr.

The notification said that these holidays would apply to all government and semi-government offices, corporations and local councils administered by the Sindh government, with the exception of essential services and departments and offices linked to coronavirus prevention.

It may be recalled that a few days ago, the federal government had also announced Eid-ul-Fitr holidays from May 22 to 27.

A notification from the Interior Ministry said all businesses, public places, community markets and shops would remain closed during the holidays.

Note that the Meteorological Department has stated that the moon of Shawwal will unlikely to be visible on Saturday, May 23.

Following this forecast, 30 days are more likely this year and Eid-ul-Fitr may take place on Monday, May 25, but the decision will be taken at a meeting of the Ruwit-e-Hilal Committee on May 23.
