Sindh Cabinet on Wednesday has approved the budget 2020-21 proposal for the next fiscal year.

According to details, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has said that relief has been given to government employees, farmers and private sector in our budget. We will provide relief to government employees and the people despite financial difficulties.

He said that people cannot be left alone in difficult situation while despite difficulties we have kept budget for development works and tried to present a balanced financial plan.

Sindh cabinet approved  to give 10 percent salary raise to employees of grade 1 to 16 while officers of grade 17 and above will get an increase of 5% in their salaries in budget 2020-21. However it is to be noted here that Centre and Punjab did not raise salaries of government employees in their respective budgets for fiscal year 2020-21.

Budget session of the Provincial Assembly will be virtual and it expected that 75 per cent of members will attend the session through video link.

According to reports Sindh government has decreased its development portfolio from Rs 228 billion in the outgoing year 2019-2020 to approximately Rs 170 billion for next the financial years 2020-2021.

For the next year, about Rs 155 set aside for the provincial development portfolio while only Rs 15 billion reserved for the districts.

However, a prominent amount allocated to the health sector in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.

It is noted that around Rs 5 billion allocated to the coronavirus emergency fund and a total Rs 15 billion will directly or indirectly spent on health in the coming fiscal year.

Earlier while addressing a news conference, Chief Minister Sindh said in the next budget, priority would accorded to the health sector under which new facilities would be established. “We have to contain the virus which is spreading throughout the province,”
