Under the rules, National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) can impose a fine of up to Rs 100 million on K Electric for load shedding as per the rules and NEPRA directives, the Electric Administration cannot carry out load shedding in Karachi.

Load shedding has affected Federal B Area, North Nazimabad, Malir area while Kemari, City Railway Colony, Rifa Society Korangi have also experienced power outages for up to several hours and the power outage lasted for hour salso in Ancholi, Gulistan e Johar, Garden West, Soldier Bazaar, Pak Colony.

It is to be noted that due to the extreme heat, the citizens of Karachi are already so disturbed by the unannounced load shedding of electricity that their night’s sleep is not restful.

The power supply was also suspended in several areas of Karachi last night while the intense heat added to the distresses of the residents of the area.

K Electric also did not forgive the excise department and the power was cut due to non-payment of the bill.

The Clifton line of the Excise and Taxation Narcotics Department was cut.

The sources said that the bills have been sent several times by excise department clerks but the minister’s office didn’t respond on it.

Today the line has been cut due to non-payment of Rs 3 lacs, excise department officials are facing severe difficulties.

Earlier, K Electric has announced an increase in load shedding, after which power went out across Karachi.

The company has announced to increase load shedding on the excuse of shortage of fuel oil.
