PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif appeared before the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in a money laundering and assets more than income cases where he was interrogated for about an hour and a half.

At the time of Shehbaz Sharif’s appearance in the NAB, Police personnel were deployed and barricades were set up outside the NAB office in Lahore.

The PML-N has called the workers to reach the NAB office today and a large number of PML-N workers were present outside the NAB office and police personnel were deployed to prevent any untoward incident.

A three-member NAB team questioned Shehbaz Sharif about money laundering and assets more than income cases while maintaining social distance due to coronavirus.

During the interrogation, various questions were asked about Shahbaz Sharif’s assets abroad, money laundering, loans taken from various personalities.

According to sources, Shehbaz Sharif also borrowed millions of dollars from Anil Musarat, a close friend of Prime Minister Imran Khan, and his son-in-law and niece.

NAB Lahore has included Shehbaz Sharif’s son-in-law Haroon Yousuf and niece Asma Dar in the money-laundering inquiry.

Sources said that Shehbaz Sharif got a loan from Haroon Yousuf and Ishaq Dar’s daughter-in-law to make foreign assets.

Sources said that Shehbaz Sharif obtained a loan of 461,682 British pounds from Anil Mussarat and from businessmen like Ajmal Asi, Zulfiqar Ahmed and Hussain Ahmed.

The NAB has also sought details of the loan obtained from Imran Khan’s close friend Anil Musarat.

NAB has asked Shehbaz Sharif to bring the details of all the people including Zaheer Ahmad Afzal Bhatti from whom he has obtained loans for making assets abroad and to bring along the amount of loan obtained from all individuals, banking records today.

Note that last month, the NAB had written a letter to Shehbaz Sharif asking him to appear before the NAB with loan details along with bank documents of the loan he received from Anil Mussarat, Ajmal Asi, Haroon Yousaf, Asma Dar, Zulfiqar Ali Hussain Ahmed, Zaheer Ahmed and Afzal Bhatti.

PML-N president had returned home from London in March after which the NAB had summoned him several times.

Earlier on April 17 and 22, Shehbaz Sharif had decided not to appear due to health reasons while NAB had assured him to take all precautionary measures as per medical instructions.

Shehbaz Sharif, through his lawyer, had submitted the required documents to the National Accountability Bureau, but the NAB had declared the documents and evidence insufficient and directed him to appear in person to answer questions.

Later, the Lahore High Court granted interim bail to PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif and restrained the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) from arresting him till June 17.
