Federal Minister for Communications Murad Saeed said that due to Coronavirus, Rs. 12,000 was provided to the deserving families, the current government gave the biggest relief package in the history of the country in difficult times.
Addressing a press conference on the performance of the NHA and the Ministry of Communications and future plans, Federal Minister for Communications Murad Saeed said that when the cabinet was formed, the Prime Minister had some responsibilities with regard to various ministries. And we have developed some principles that we have followed to move the Ministry of Communications and the NHA towards e-governance and e-bidding.
“Since the formation of the government in 2018, we have launched 48 per cent more projects than the previous government, but these projects are not a burden on the national exchequer like in the past, but are being built under public-private partnership,” he said.
Murad Saeed also said that in the past this ministry was held by former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif but still there is no comparison between the performance of NHA during his tenure and ours.
The Federal Minister said that the new projects to be launched by our government under PSDP in the next financial year include Sindh, Balochistan and KP projects on the western route of CPEC and from Sialkot to Kharian and Kharian to Rawalpindi. Plans are also happening to connect populated areas with GT Road to Rawalpindi.
Murad Saeed also said that in line with the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan, the NH has introduced e-governance and e-bidding system to move towards self-reliance, through a process of self-accountability in just 22 months. He said that Rs. 12 billion has been recovered and revenue has also been increased by Rs. 33 billion.
In his statement, Murad Saeed said that under the public sector development program (PSDP), 57 mega projects for construction of highways, motorways, flyovers and bridges have been included in the budget for the next financial year 2020-21. There will be no burden on the exchequer while every project will be cheaper and standardized than the previous ones in terms of cost and transparency.
Federal Minister for Communications Murad Saeed further said that in view of the situation of COVID-19, the citizens are appealed to follow the SOPs. We have to fight against Coronavirus together. There have been some cases in the NHA as well, but we are strictly following the SOPs.
