Prime Minister Imran Khan has directed action against those involved in the sugar scandal in the light of the recommendations of the Sugar Commission.

Addressing a press conference along with Special Assistant for Accountability Shehzad Akbar, Information Minister Shibli Faraz said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) had also decided in its election manifesto that when we come to power, we will hold all these people accountable , who have put the people, the institutions and the future of this country at stake.

He said that when the sugar crisis occurred, Prime Minister Imran Khan immediately formed a commission for inquiry. The tradition has always been that a commission of inquiry is formed immediately but its recommendations are not acted upon and over time people Forget

He said that the Prime Minister made the report of this commission public. Many people thought that it would not be made public. After that, a forensic audit was done and people were sceptical that the matter might not go any further as there are big powerful people in the sugar sector but not only the forensic audit was conducted on time but also the details were revealed to the public.

Special Assistant for Accountability Shehzad Akbar said that the report covers the activities of the last five years and shows that key players and individuals in the sugar industry are operating irregularly in the style of mafia and also use political influence.

He said that the people of the sugar industry were committing atrocities, they were acting like a mafia but when the price of sugar went up during the tenure of Prime Minister Imran Khan, he promised the people of Pakistan that he would investigate the matter, bring the matter to light and take action against those involved and action will be taken regardless of their affiliation with any political party.

He said that in the light of the directives of this commission and the federal cabinet, he submitted recommendations to the Prime Minister on which a detailed meeting was held with the senior leadership in Bani Gala today in which the Prime Minister approved the recommendations.

He said that the action against the culprits are divided into three parts, the first part of which is panel action, ie action will be taken against those who violated the laws of Pakistan. These include the process of recovery as well as punishment.

He said that the changes in the regulatory framework under the second part have been incorporated in the report of the industry and the commission.

The advisor further said that the third and most important part is to take action on sugar prices so that the prices return to the level which is the production price of sugar.

Special Assistant for Accountability Shehzad Akbar said that he had taken the recommendations which have been approved by the Prime Minister.
