Prime Minister Imran Khan chaired a meeting of the federal cabinet on Tuesday in which a number of important agenda items took up for consideration.

According to the details, during the meeting, the issues pertaining to the economy and other related items also came into consideration.

The federal cabinet meeting also reviewed the steps taken to curb the spread of Coronavirus, anti-locust operations launched in different districts against the crop devouring pests.

During the meeting, the federal cabinet also approved the country’s first mobile device manufacturing policy.

The policy stated that the country will get incentives for manufacturing and assembling mobile phones and the fixed sales tax on manufacturing and assembling of mobile devices in the country will be abolished, policy

It further said that the local manufacturers will be given a 3% R&D allowance for mobile exports. There will be a 4% holding tax exemption on domestic sales of home-made mobiles.

The government will differentiate between full manufacture and assembly of mobile phones. EDB will act as the Secretariat for Mobile Phone Manufacturing Policy.
