Prime Minister Imran Khan had a conversation Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa on telephone today (Jun 25).

The sources said that the Prime Minister and the President of Sri Lanka discussed bilateral relations, regional situation and a broad range of other matters.

According to the details, PM Imran Khan appreciated the efforts made by Sri Lanka to fight against COVID-19 pandemic.

He briefed the Sri Lankan President about the latest condition in Pakistan and the steps taken by the Government to combat coronavirus and efforts to save lives, secure livelihoods, and sustain the economy of the country.

The sources also said that the Prime Minister apprised the President about his “Global Initiative on Debt Relief” for developing countries to ease the severe socio-economic impacts of the coronavirus pandemic.

PM Imran Khan also shared his perspective on the serious situation in Indian occupied Jammu & Kashmir (IOJ&K) and highlighted the imperative of peaceful resolution of the Jammu & Kashmir dispute.

The Prime Minister invited the Sri Lankan President to visit Pakistan once the Covid-19 situation improves.

It is to be noted that both countries are bound by a close, friendly relationship based on mutual trust, sovereign equality and mutual respect.
