The Punjab Assembly, while enacting historic legislation, unanimously passed a bill to stop blasphemy against the last Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and His Companions.

Speaker Punjab Assembly Chaudhry Pervez Elahi chaired a meeting of Punjab assembly at a local hotel due to coronavirus.

The Punjab Assembly passed a resolution against books having blasphemous material against the Holy Prophet and His companions.

In the meeting, PML-Q MPA Khadija Omar moved a motion to stop the publication of blasphemous material which was unanimously approved by the government and the opposition.

Under the law, religious textbooks and religious materials of schools will be bound to be approved by the Punjab Textbook Board Muttahida Ulema Board.

Speaker Punjab Assembly Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi said that conspiracies are hatched against the religion of Allah and doubts and suspicions are created in the minds of the students. It is time to close this door forever.

Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi said that they are making important legislation to keep the next generation safe, from now on the text board will be bound to get the educational material certified by the scholars.
