Chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Justice (Retd) Javed Iqbal called on President Dr Arif Alvi and presented the annual performance report of the institution.

Briefing the President on the performance of the institution, Justice (Retd) Javed Iqbal said that NAB has recovered more than Rs 141 billion in 2019.

According to the Chairman NAB, 747 inquiries and 269 investigations have been completed last year and the success rate of NAB has been 68.8%.

Expressing satisfaction over the performance of NAB, the President said that NAB is an independent body and NAB needs to be further strengthened to eradicate corruption from the society.

Note that, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has played a key role in eradicating corruption from Pakistan. Last year, Pakistan has been ranked 175th to 116th in the CPI in terms of the perception of corruption.

Pakistan is the only country whose CPI is on a downward trend. NAB’s performance has been appreciated by SAARC countries including India. Due to NAB’s efforts, NAB has been unanimously elected chairman of SAARC Anti-Corruption Forum. that is a great achievement for Pakistan.

After the achievement, NAB stated that it is committed to making Pakistan 100% corruption-free by practising transparency and professionalism. NAB’s efforts have improved the perception of corruption in Pakistan. Pakistan is ranked 116th out of 175 countries.

The statement said that NAB has set up more than 55,000 role-playing associations across the country to educate the youth about the ill effects of corruption. Compared to the period from 2018 to 2019, the number of complaints inquiries and investigations has doubled, which is an expression of confidence in NAB’s accountability policy for all.
