KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Pakistan leader Khawaja Izhar has said that Sindh government is running away from the courts on the issue of fake domicile.

Addressing a press conference at the party’s temporary headquarters in Bahadurabad, MQM leader Khawaja Izharul Hassan said that the issue of fake domiciles was raised everywhere, including in the assembly, but if nothing happened, they approached the court.

Khawaja Izhar said that if the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have fake domiciles, it is because of corrupt officials. MQM is of the view that the 1973 constitution should be implemented.

Regarding fake domiciles, the MQM leader further said that the case of fake domiciles is on in the court and hopefully a decision will be taken soon. The Sindh government replied in the court that no complaint was received on fake domiciles.

He said that the Sindh government was trying to influence the court proceedings through a notification against which he would file a contempt of court petition.

The Sindh government had set up a committee on the matter, which during the investigation has revealed that several people had forged domiciles.
