The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has postponed the 2022 Youth Olympics for four years.
The Youth Olympics Summer Games are held every 4 years in which athletes between the ages of 14 and 18 participate and the Youth Olympics is considered an important milestone at the beginning of the career of athletes.
However, the 2022 Youth Olympics Games in Dakar, the capital of the West African country of Senegal, have been postponed and will now take place in 2026.
The IOC says that the Youth Games have been postponed in view of the postponement of several events, including the Summer Olympics, in the current situation.
On the other hand, 4 years ahead of the event, the dream of many athletes to participate in the Youth Olympics was shattered.
In this regard, the head of the IOC said that he estimated that this would disappoint the athletes, but appealed to them to try to understand the compulsions behind this decision.
The IOC and the Senegal Olympic administration have vowed to hold the event in full swing in 2026.
