ACC wrote on twitter, “After careful consideration and evaluating the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Executive Board of the ACC has decided to postpone the Asia Cup tournament that was scheduled for September 2020.”
In a statement, the ACC said that from the start, the board had wanted the tournament to be held as scheduled, but that the Asia Cup would have been difficult to hold with travel restrictions, basic health risks and social distance rules.
Above all, the health and safety risks of participating players, support staff, business partners, fans and the cricketing community are considered important.
After considering all the factors, all the boards have decided to postpone the Asia Cup 2020.
Conducting the event responsibly is a priority for the ACC. The tournament is expected to take place in 2021. The ACC is currently trying to get June 2021 as a suitable window for it.
