Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Pakistan senior deputy convener Aamir Khan and other members of the Rabita Committee held a press conference and criticized K Electric.

Addressing a press conference in Karachi, MQM Pakistan leader Aamir Khan said that the citizens of Karachi have been suffering from load shedding for the last several months and K Electric is collecting billions of rupees through over-billing.

He said that the citizens of Karachi are facing the worst load shedding. We have talked to the administration about load shedding many times but K Electric is becoming a mafia group which does not bring anyone to mind.

Aamir Khan said that he also talked to the Prime Minister of Pakistan regarding load shedding in Karachi but K Electric was not ready to act on the instructions of the Prime Minister. Instead of resolving the issue, NEPRA increased the tariff further.

It may be recalled that in the month of June, as the heat intensified, citizens of Karachi are facing load shedding for 14 to 16 hours in different parts of the city and now unannounced load shedding is going on in the city under the pretext of rain.

The duration of load shedding in the city has increased from 12 to 14 hours due to which the citizens are facing difficulties in hot weather.

On the other hand, the leadership of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Sindh Province has announced to go to the Supreme Court against K Electric, a private company supplying electricity to Karachi.

The PTI is holding a sit-in in front of the Electric Head Office against load shedding in Karachi.

Opposition leader in Sindh Assembly Firdous Shamim Naqvi said in his address to the sit-in that they will go to the Supreme Court against K Electric and appeal to the Chief Justice to take Suo Motu notice.
