Punjab Food & Senior Minister Abdul Aleem Khan called on Prime Minister Imran Khan and gave him a detailed briefing on the current situation of wheat and flour in Punjab.

Prime Minister Imran Khan directed that there should be no shortage of wheat and flour as it is a basic need of the citizens and the Food Department and local administration should not shy away from any action in this regard.

Senior & Food Minister Abdul Aleem Khan told Prime Minister Imran Khan that this year official release of wheat has been started prematurely in all the districts of Punjab with the objective of ensuring ample supply of flour. He thanked the Prime Minister to accept the proposals of the Punjab Government regarding import of 1.5 million tons of wheat immediately.

He also expressed gratitude for the approval and supply of wheat at low rates like Punjab to the flour mills in KPK province. Abdul Aleem Khan said that these two decisions would reduce the burden on Punjab province regarding wheat and flour and there should be less price margin between the two provinces.

Senior and Food Minister Abdul Aleem Khan also apprised about the operations being carried out in different districts of Punjab against hoarding and illicit profiteering. He said that Punjab has abundant wheat reserves and In Sha Allah there will be no shortage in any area of Punjab.

Food Minister Abdul Aleem Khan said that the process of supply of flour at controlled rate is going on in all the districts of the province on a daily basis and nowhere is there any complaint of shortage or sale of flour. During the meeting, Prime Minister Imran Khan and Senior and Punjab Food Minister Abdul Aleem Khan discussed departmental and other issues and various matters came under discussion.
