Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that security measures and SOPs should be strictly enforced on the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha.

According to the details, a high-level meeting has been held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Imran Khan, in which the situation of COVID-19 has been reviewed.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister directed that the NCOC meetings be held in the provincial capitals and the administrative measures be made more effective with the cooperation and coordination of the provincial governments and the administration.

During the meeting, the strategy to prevent the spread of Coronavirus and ensure people to follow SOPs during Eid-ul-Adha and Muharram was also discussed.

The Prime Minister was also briefed on the current situation of Coronavirus, the regional situation, the positive results of the Smart Lockdown strategy, as well as the situation of increasing the number of beds in hospitals equipped with the required facilities.

It was stated in the briefing during the meeting that the complete lockdown strategy in the region has not yielded the desired results but due to economic constraints lifting the lockdown has significantly increased the spread and deaths from the pandemic while smart lockdown strategy in Pakistan has been very effective.

The Prime Minister was further informed that the reduction in Coronavirus cases has significantly reduced the burden on the hospitals while the number of beds equipped with special facilities for Coronavirus patients has been increased by fifteen hundred so far and in few days, this number will be increased to two and a half thousand.

After the briefing, the Prime Minister expressed satisfaction over the positive results in the prevention of Coronavirus and said that it was satisfactory that COVID-19’s graph was steadily declining.

The Prime Minister clarified that we have to learn from our experiences and make the administrative measures more effective so that we can further reduce the spread of Coronavirus Pandemic.

The meeting was attended by Hamad Azhar, Khusro Bakhtiar, Ejaz Ahmad Shah, Fakhr Imam, Asad Umar, Abdul Razzaq Dawood, Asim Saleem Bajwa, Shahbaz Gul, Dr Faisal Sultan, Chairman NDMA Lieutenant General Muhammad Afzal and other senior officers.
