Information and Broadcasting Minister Senator Shibli Faraz on the recent incident at Friendship Gate Border Crossing in Chaman said that some border crossings were closed due to Eid and Coronavirus but some elements tried to cross the Chaman border by force.

During a press conference in Islamabad, he said that arrangements were being made to coordinate the border system.

He said that the borders would be protected in accordance with international rules so that it would be known who was coming and who was going.

Senator Shibli Faraz urged the Afghan government to cooperate in securing the border areas.

In addition, the Federal Minister said that some miscreants incited the people and tried to cross the border by force and an atmosphere of tension was created which resulted in a reaction from the security.

“We understand that the two countries have a brotherly and historical relationship, and with that, we have been able to import essential goods for our Afghan brothers,” he said.

“Pakistan has played a positive role in the peace agreement between the United States and the Taliban. We believe that international law applies to border issues,” said Senator Shibli Faraz.

He further said that the closure of the border had harmed the financial interests of the smugglers and created a situation of lawlessness in order to take advantage of it.

He said that Afghanistan would strengthen its relationship with the government and people and would try to control the regional situation and prevent such an environment in the future.
