Son tortures mother in Rawalpindi, case register after video goes viral

RAWALPINDI: The video of a mother being tortured by her son has gone viral, sparking outrage among the people and after the issue was raised on social media, the police registered a case and initiated the action.

When the video went viral, the authorities took notice and on the orders of Superintendent of Police (SP) Rawal Division, Sadiqabad Police Station SHO Tahir Ahmad Rehan registered a case against the victim, Gulnaz Bibi.

The woman underwent a medical examination immediately after the case was registered, hospital sources said an X-ray report would be provided to police a week later.

Gulnaz Bibi, a resident of Dhok Ali Akbar said that her son Arsalan and daughter-in-law Bisma used to fight with them every day and the previous day, both the husband and wife tortured her after bitter words.

SP Rawal Division Rai Mazhar, he said that after taking notice of CPO Rawalpindi Ahsan Younis, a case has been registered and the woman has been given medical treatment and investigation has been started.

Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Usman Bazdar also took notice of the incident and demanded a report from RPO Rawalpindi.

Usman Bazdar while ordering the immediate arrest of the accused said that the perpetrator of torture on a mother-like entity should be arrested as soon as possible and justice should be provided to the victim.

On the other hand, Arsalan’s wife Bisma said that it has been 4 years since her marriage and a daughter of two and a half years.

She accused her mother in law of oppressing her she said in a video message that she had never opened up to save her house. Now when it comes to the media, she is forced to tell people the other side of the picture.

Accused Arsalan has confessed to the crime and said that he is ashamed of his mother and mothers of all Pakistan and the world and apologizes while the son and daughter-in-law who tortured the mother have also been granted interim bail by the court. The court has ordered not to arrest the accused till August 6 and to join the investigation in the case.
