The threat of corona virus from the jails of Punjab province has not been reduced yet.
According to the details, there is still a risk of COVID-19 pandemic among the inmates in the jails across the province.
In this regard, a copy of the report sent to the Home Department by the Prisons Department has been obtained by BOL News.
According to a report obtained by BOL News, corona tests were conducted of 322 accused and employees from Punjab jails, while 98 of the samples tested negative and one tested positive.
According to the report, reports of 216 samples have not been received so far while seven patients have fully recovered and re-samples of eight patients have been taken.
According to the report, one patient tested positive in the re-sampling while seven patients were re-tested.
It may be recalled that daily reports from Punjab jails are sent to the Punjab Home Department.
Earlier in May, The Federal Ombudsman has told the Supreme Court of Pakistan that forty-seven prisoners in different jails of Punjab have been tested positive for the new virus COVID-19.
The ombudsman secretariat revealed the status of implementation of jails reforms in Pakistan in its sixth report.
According to the details, the report was submitted to the apex court through senior legal consultant Hafiz Ahsaan Ahmad Khokhar.
