Byron (Reckful) Bernstein, a former pro gamer, popular Twitch streamer and top player in World of Warcraft, has reportedly committed suicide at the age of 31.

He died at his home in Austin, Texas on Thursday. His brother Gary Bernstein, has suggested that he died by suicide. 

Reckful was a renowned e-sports player and had 960,000 followers on streaming site Twitch. He had built his fan following in part by playing World Of Warcraft.

Twitch said that Reckful was a “streaming pioneer” and that it was “devastated” to hear of his death.

Reckful was working to create his own video game called Everland.

He had shared his struggle with depression on YouTube in January. He had also mentioned that he had lost one of his brothers to suicide.

“Byron was someone who talked about his struggles to help make room for others to the same,” Twitch said in a statement.

“As we process this loss, we have to recognize that the stigma around mental health and treatment often prevents people from seeking and getting the help they need.”

Fans organized virtual memorials inside the game.

Twiterattis express their grief on his death. The news became one of the top trends on Twitter.
