Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi had a telephone conversation with his Indonesian counterpart H.E. Retno L. P. Marsudi.
According to details, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi had a telephone conversation with his Indonesian counterpart Retno Marsudi in which the ongoing human rights violations in occupied Jammu and Kashmir and the overall law and order situation in the region were discussed.
Referring to his recent letter to the Security Council, the Foreign Minister said that in view of the ongoing human rights violations in Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and India’s efforts to change the geographical location of Occupied Kashmir, the UN Security Council needs to discuss this issue.
Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that India’s illegal move was a clear violation of UN Security Council and international law. Continued violations of the Line of Control (LoC) by India pose a serious threat to law and order in the entire region.
He said that in order to find a peaceful solution to the Occupied Jammu and Kashmir dispute, the UN Security Council must play an effective role in the light of its resolutions.
The statement added, “The Foreign Minister underscored that the intensified ceasefire violations and enhanced tensions necessitated strengthening of the UN Military Observer Group in India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP).”
“We expect the UN Security Council to play its proposed role in ensuring peace and stability in the region,” he said.
It should be noted that Indonesia is chairing the UN Security Council for the month of August.
