Karachi: The city’s dilapidated infrastructure has been destroyed due to torrential rains.

According to details, rains in Karachi have ruined the appearance of the city, main roads are in a state of disrepair, water has accumulated in underpasses while drainage work from many highways and areas has not been completed yet.

Even two days after the rains, the low-lying and suburban areas, as well as the posh areas and their societies, are underwater. On the other hand, many roads in the city are in a state of disrepair.

Several feet of stagnant water is standing in Posh Societies, PECHS, Gulistan Zafar Society, Scheme 33, North Nazimabad, Defense and Clifton. The administration has not yet been able to drain the rainwater. In many areas, roads are flooded and domestic houses are submerged.

In Defense, Federal B Area, New Karachi, the property was damaged due to water intrusion in houses, water in the basement of many houses and the vehicles of citizens were also broke down, several areas were flooded and despite 48 hours, many areas are facing power outage.

Even after two days, due to non-drainage of water on the nursery, the full water in the mosque could not be drained. Dirty water has accumulated in various places in the commercial centre tower and Saddar. Due to non-drainage of rainwater, The road has sunk, the road to Malir Halt has also collapsed, and there are huge potholes on the roads in Gulistan-e-Jauhar and Gulshan-e-Iqbal.

Bad roads in Bada Board, North Nazimabad, Manghopir, Orangi Town, Baldia Town, Sher Shah, Kemari, Landhi Korangi have deteriorated further.

Meanwhile, the Sindh government has also regained consciousness after three days. The government has declared 20 districts across the province, including 6 districts of Karachi, as a calamity affected, 6 districts of Karachi, 9 districts of Hyderabad division and 3 districts of Mirpur Khas division. By declaring 2 districts of Nawabshah division as disaster-affected, the Deputy Commissioners of the districts have been directed to assess the damage caused by rains as soon as possible.
