President Dr Arif Alvi has said that members of the minority community are playing a key role in the development of the country in various fields including education, medicine, army and bureaucracy.
According to details, President Dr. Arif Alvi in a message on the occasion of Minorities Day said that today is a day of special significance in the history of Pakistan and today we renew our commitment to treat our minorities with tolerance.
The President said that tolerance towards minorities is part of the crust of our society whereas Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah had promised to give equal rights to minorities before the Constituent Assembly of Pakistan on August 11, 1947.
Dr. Arif Alvi also said that in the Charter of Madinah, people of all religions living in Madinah were guaranteed their political, social and economic rights while the ideal state of Madinah teaches us to have a tolerant and just attitude towards minorities.
The President said that minorities have rendered invaluable services for the construction and development of Pakistan in all ways of life.
Dr. Arif Alvi said that our great religion Islam also teaches tolerance with all religions, reiterating our commitment to maintain an atmosphere of tolerance and brotherhood in the society.
President Dr. Arif Alvi further said that today we reiterate our commitment to avoid prejudice against minorities, for the development of the country all religions and nations living in Pakistan must be treated equally.
