ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry has said that the cabinet has given permission for commercial and medical use of cannabis plant.

According to details, Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry said in a statement on social networking site Twitter that the cabinet had given permission for commercial and medical use of the cannabis plant while approving the license for the Ministry of Science and Technology PCSIR.

Fawad Chaudhry further said that with a historic move Pakistan will enter the billion-dollar market.

It may be recalled that a meeting of the Federal Cabinet was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Imran Khan in which the political and economic situation of the country was reviewed and a briefing was given on the situation in Karachi and relief work.

The meeting adjourned the briefing on encroachments on Islamabad and Margalla Road while outlining the outsourcing of major airports in the country and appointments made without the approval of the Cabinet.

The Federal Cabinet approved the names for construction of multi-storied buildings in major cities and for the election of Board of Directors of Pakistan Petroleum Limited.

According to sources, the annual report of NEPRA and State of Industry was presented in the meeting while the Cabinet was briefed on Public-Private Construction, PPRA Rules.
