The Prime Minister arrived in Quetta, the capital of Balochistan province, on a one-day visit on Friday where he met Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan.

The Chief Minister and the Prime Minister discussed the overall situation of Balochistan including development issues.

Talking on the occasion, the Prime Minister said that the federal government would extend full cooperation to the provincial government.

The Prime Minister appreciated the performance of the provincial government led by Jam Kamal Khan.

A meeting was also held under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister in which the provincial administration apprised the Prime Minister of the overall situation including floods, Coronavirus and development projects.

Later in a meeting with members of the Balochistan Provincial Cabinet, the Prime Minister said that the first priority of our government is the welfare of the backward classes and the development and prosperity of the backward areas.

Federal Minister for Defense Production Zubeida Jalal, Federal Minister for Information Senator Shibli Faraz, Federal Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar, Deputy Speaker National Assembly Qasim Khan Suri and Chief Minister Balochistan Jam Kamal Khan were present on the occasion.

Balochistan Education Minister Sardar Yar Muhammad Rind, Balochistan Irrigation Minister Nawabzada Tariq Magsi, Interior Minister Zia Lango and other ministers were also present on the occasion.

The Prime Minister said that the first priority of our government is the welfare of the backward classes and the development and prosperity of the backward areas.

He said that unfortunately promises were made to Balochistan in the past but could not be implemented while our government allocated maximum funds for Balochistan in the Public Sector Development Program which was due to our government’s commitment and sincerity to Balochistan. It is a reflection of commitment.

He said that Balochistan is the largest province of Pakistan in terms of area, development needs to be prioritized in Balochistan and there are immense potential and opportunities for development here.

The Prime Minister said that we will use all the resources for the development and prosperity of every region of Balochistan especially South Balochistan and soon Minister of Planning Asad Umar will visit Balochistan and consult on formulating a special package for the development of South Balochistan.

“The situation of Coronavirus pandemic has improved, but we need to be more careful,” Imran Khan said.

On the occasion, Minister for Planning Asad Umar informed the participants that the Ministry of Planning has constituted a Coordination Committee for the Development and Prosperity of Balochistan in which all stakeholders are represented.
