Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has urged SCO member states to work together to prevent the resurgence of Fascist ideology and violent nationalism anywhere in the world and especially in the region.

‘Inter-Afghan talks must take place as soon as possible’
Highlighting the importance of peace and stability in Afghanistan, the Foreign Minister said that Pakistan fully supported the Afghan-led efforts for peace and reconciliation.
He said that Afghan stakeholders should take advantage of this historic opportunity to reach a political settlement together, adding that inter-Afghan talks should be held as soon as possible.
Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that it was also important to be aware of the internal and external elements unhappy with the return of peace and stability in Afghanistan.
Repatriation of Afghan refugees with dignity and respect should be an integral part of peace talks, the Foreign Minister said.
“We look forward to consulting with the SCO Afghan Coordination Group to further facilitate the Afghan peace and reconciliation process,” he said.
Shah Mehmood Qureshi said the SCO should focus on promoting regional connectivity projects.
He said that the destination of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is to bring economic prosperity to Pakistan, the region and beyond.
