India Has Nothing To Claim In The Region Except ‘Military Occupation’

Pakistan has sharply criticized the Indian response to Prime Minister Imran Khan’s address to the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), stating that Jammu and Kashmir has never been and will never be part of India. Delhi has nothing to claim in the region except ‘military occupation’.

Representing Pakistan at the forum, Zulqarnain Chheena said that India has no claim other than military occupation of Jammu and Kashmir. It is forced to use force to impose its occupation on the undesirable and oppressed. Ask the people of Jammu and Kashmir and they will tell you. Jammu and Kashmir is not a part of India, it has never been and will never be.

Earlier, India had responded to Prime Minister Imran Khan’s address to the General Assembly by calling it “full of lies, misunderstandings and war frenzy”. They also walked out of the meeting when he left.

Rejecting India’s statement, the Pakistani envoy said the Indian response was “another shameful attempt to divert attention from the real issues”.

India will not escape accountability for its crimes, he said.

“The state of Jammu and Kashmir is an internationally recognized disputed territory in accordance with UN Security Council (UNSC) resolutions,” he said.

The Pakistani envoy said that the final settlement of the state would be made in accordance with democratic practices of a free and fair referendum under the auspices of the United Nations.

“The struggle for the independence of local Kashmiris seeks to exercise their right to self-determination in accordance with UN resolutions,” he said.

He said that Kashmiris have a legitimate right to resist the occupation in any way they can, this struggle cannot be denied nor can it be termed as terrorism, it is the occupying state that the occupied people Is guilty of terrorism against

“Like all oppressors, India believes that it can end the legitimate resistance of Kashmiris through oppression. In its book, there is an alternative to pressure and more pressure, but like all colonial oppressors of the past,” he said. India will also fail in its occupation strategy.

“One day Kashmir will be free. This is not only a lesson of history but also a demand for justice,” he said.

Zulqarnain Chheena said that “Pakistani people, the world of Islam and all freedom-loving people stand with the brave people of occupied Kashmir”.
