James Corden answers claims of him replacing Ellen DeGeneres

James Corden has responded to the claims that he was replacing Ellen DeGeneres on her talk show after talks about a “toxic” workplace culture behind the scenes of the series.

An internal investigation was launched against workers of The Ellen DeGeneres Show after “toxic” workplace complaints from staff members. Three of the top producers were fired amid complaints.

It was rumored that Jame Corden was expected to replace the host Ellen. He finally clarified that there is no truth to the rumors. 

During the latest episode of his show ‘The Late Late Show’, James Corden said, “Genuinely, I have no idea where that even came from. I think somebody started a rumor somewhere and someone jumped on the thing. There is absolutely no truth in that story at all. Zero.”

“As far as considering it, I think it would be a really crazy thing to take over from someone who I think has done the job so outrageously well for, like, 18 years. It’s not true,” he said.

“And I think when the day comes to end this show, [it] will be the day to probably stop hosting a show every day. So, no I wouldn’t,” he added.

Ellen DeGeneres also addressed the allegations about the toxic culture. “As you may have heard, this summer there were allegations of a toxic work environment at our show,” DeGeneres said.

“Then there was an investigation. I learned that things happened here that never should have happened. I take that very seriously.”

“I want to say I am so sorry to the people who were affected,” she continued. “I know that I am in a position of privilege and power, and I realise that with that, comes responsibility and I take responsibility for what happens at my show.”
