A joint sitting of the National Assembly and the Senate has begun and the opposition has started protesting against the approval of the motion by the Speaker.

A joint sitting of the National Assembly and Senate is being held in Islamabad today under the chairmanship of Speaker Asad Qaiser and Prime Minister Imran Khan is also present in the meeting.

A large number of members at the session were not wearing masks and violating the Coronavirus SOPs.

As soon as the meeting started, Babar Awan moved a motion for Waqf Property Bill 2020 which was passed by the Speaker on which the opposition recorded its protest.

During the protest, the opposition said that its members were not being counted properly and the bill was being passed in a hurry.

During the same commotion, PPP MPA Agha Rafiullah also clashed with his government members.

Senior PPP leaders Naveed Qamar and Sherry Rehman are protesting in front of the Speaker’s dice while the opposition chanted slogans in the House ‘Respect the vote’.

Following the opposition’s protest, the members were recounted and even after the recount, the motion to introduce the Islamabad Waqf Property Bill was passed by a majority.

There were 200 votes in favour of the movement and 190 against.

Later, the process of clause-wise approval of the bill was started but in the meantime, the opposition members remained standing on their seats and continued to record protests on which the Speaker agreed to conduct a recount.
