Six minutes later, Andy Robertson made amends for his earlier mistake by making it 2-1 with a spectacular finish from Trent Alexander-Arnold’s cross.

The third goal was shot by Diogo Jota who was given league debut by Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp. He scored with three minutes left.

In his post-match remarks, the Liverpool manager said, “From the first second, we were dominant against a team in form, 100 percent in form. You have to be careful like hell and not get counter-attacked.”

He added that, “I think 60 or 70 percent of all the balls in behind were offside. You have to wait a little longer for the flag now so that’s why it feels not great, but they were offside.”

According to the reports, the two teams will meet again on Thursday but in a different competition.

Earlier on Monday, the Spanish Club Barcelona enjoyed the remarkable victory against Villarreal after defeating it with 4-0 in La Liga.

Lionel Messi scored in his first game after remaining in controversy for leaving the club. Notably, Ronald Koeman, who now coaches Barca, tasted the victory of his club and started his era of Barca management in style.

Ansu Fati, who also remained in the spotlight partnering Messi played a decent game at the pitch.
