KARACHI: While the coronavirus is spreading rapidly across the world, everyone is astounded at the significant decrease in COVID-19 cases in Pakistan, but now a new research report has explained the reasons for this decline.
Oxford University Press’s Journal of Public Health has published a research report by infectious disease specialist Dr Samreen Kulsoom Zaidi.
In her report, Dr Samreen said that the chances of a second wave of Coronavirus coming to Pakistan are expected to shrink significantly.
A study of Karachi’s adult population found that by the first week of July 2020, more than 40 per cent of the population had been infected with the coronavirus and more than 90 per cent of them had no symptoms.
According to the report, these people had developed immunity against the coronavirus, as evidenced by the antibodies against the coronavirus formed in their blood.
the study conducted by the experts of NIBD Hospital explained that as a result of the development of immunity against the virus in the citizens of Karachi, the number of reported new cases of the critically ill with coronavirus has decreased significantly since the month of June.
Similarly, the death rate has dropped dramatically, as acknowledged by the World Health Organization.
According to the coronavirus statistics website (covid.gov.pk) in Pakistan, 33,865 COVID-19 tests were conducted across the country in the last 24 hours in which 752 people were confirmed to be infected with the coronavirus while 9 people died.
The total number of corona patients in Pakistan has reached 34,386 and the death toll has reached 6,408.
According to the official portal, 514 patients across the country have recovered from Corona in 24 hours.
Official portal stated the total number of coronavirus patients in Sindh has reached 133,125 while 2455 people have died so far.
The total number of corona patients in Punjab is 98142 and 2225 people have died due to the virus while the total number of patients in Balochistan is 13991 and the death toll is 145.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the number of Corona patients has been 37242 and 1257 deaths while in Azad Kashmir, 2472 people have been infected with the virus and 66 people have died.
The number of corona patients in Gilgit-Baltistan has so far reached 3381 and 80 people have died.
The total number of Corona patients in the federal capital Islamabad is 16033 and 180 patients have died so far.
It should be noted that the last three days have seen an increase in the number of corona cases in Pakistan.
On September 15, there were 404 cases of Coronavirus in the country with 6 deaths, on September 16 there were 665 cases with 4 deaths and on September 17 there were 545 cases and 6 deaths.
