Sindh Issues Notification to Open Schools From September 28

Karachi: The Sindh government has issued a notification to open schools from 28 September.

According to the notification, all public and private schools of Sindh from 6th to 8th class will open from September 28

The notification further stated that all school will be bound to implement government SOPs.

Earlier today, Minister of Education Saeed Ghani while addressing a media briefing on Friday said Students from classes VI to VIII will not join the school from September 21.

However, the Education Minister said the decision to postpone reopening of schools for the secondary student is made for only one week.

Ghani, in addition to this, said that the provincial authorities will permit schools to resume secondary-level classes from September 28 if the situation remains better.

The health ministry has issued a 27-page document containing guidelines for the return of the students.

The measures include social distancing, handwashing, face coverings, and improved ventilation.

The guidelines also call for screening, testing, and continuous monitoring in educational institutes. Students and their parents have also been advised to do self-screening and remain at home if they feel sick or have symptoms.

Schools Visits

Earlier today Sindh Minister for Education and Labor Saeed Ghani paid a surprise visit to Government Girls College in New Karachi and said that social distance should be maintained in the classrooms of the college.

Saeed Ghani also visited Mujeeb-ul-Nisa Ikram Government Girls Secondary Campus School located in New Karachi. He praised the principal for wearing masks and the presence of sanitizer in the school.

On the occasion, the provincial minister praised the management of the school for implementing all the standard operating procedures for curbing the spread of the dread virus.

The Minister also said that this school can also become an example for others as well.

Schools Sealed

Today, 13 more schools were sealed across the country for not complying with the standard operating procedures devised to curb the spread of novel coronavirus.

In 24 hours, 10 educational institutions were closed in KP and 3 in Sindh. The outbreak spread in educational institutions due to lack of precautionary measures.

Educational institutions in Pakistan on September 15 welcomed back the first batch of students in a phased reopening after a six-month break due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The educational institutions were closed on March 13 at the start of the outbreak initially for three weeks. However, the closure was extended in view of the worsening pandemic situation.

The resumption of classes is taking place amid fears of a second wave of the pandemic and concerns about adherence to the precautionary measures by the students, especially younger ones.
