Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said that he regrets over what happened with PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz and her husband Capt (retd) Safdar.

Talking to media in Karachi, he said that harassing them at the hotel early in the morning is very shameful, it is an insult to the people of Sindh.

He termed the PDM meeting held in Karachi as a historic meeting.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that the Chief Minister has directed a full investigation into the issue.

He said that senior police officers were going on leave as the arrest of captain (Ret) Safdar and the FIR had become a matter of honour.

“The police is an institution that has remained non-political. We do not want political interference in the police force, but that does not mean we will tolerate interference from elsewhere,” he said.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that “from SHO to IG level officers are asking who were the people who surrounded our IG’s house after 2 pm.”

“Officers are asking who were the two people who entered the IG’s house and took him away at 4 am,” he said.

The PPP chairman demanded the army chief and DG ISI to investigate the matter on their own.

Note that, It may be recalled that PML-N vice-president Maryam Nawaz had said on Twitter on Monday morning that the police broke down the door of the hotel room in Karachi where they were staying and Captain (R) Muhammad Safdar arrested.

Police have registered a case against PML-N leader Maryam Nawaz, her husband Capt (retd) Muhammad Safdar and 200 others for allegedly violating the sanctity of shrine of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

The case was registered against PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz, her husband Capt (retd) Muhammad Safdar and 200 other unidentified persons under Sections 6, 8 and 10 of the Quaid-e-Azam Shrine Protection and Maintenance Ordinance 1971 and Section 506 of the Pakistan Penal Code.
