More than 30 activists of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), including Pakistan Peoples Party’s Ali Qasim Gillani, were arrested on Sunday after clashes broke out again between the Punjab Police and the opposition alliance’s workers ahead of its Multan rally.

According to the details, the clash occurred after activists of PDM tried to enter the Qasim Bagh Stadium in the southern Punjab city — the venue of the PDM’s gathering scheduled for November 30. The PDM workers again reached the venue with a crane in the wee hours of Sunday to lift the containers placed at the various entrances of the stadium by the district administration.

The police baton-charged the activists and rounded up at least 25 PDM workers, including PPP’s Gilani.

PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari condemned the arrest of party workers and said that the government in Multan was afraid of celebrations of the founding day of PPP.

In his tweet earlier today, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari who is infected with the novel coronavirus, has said that an anti-government rally will be held in Multan on November 30, ‘No Matter What.”

According to the details, the Chairman took to his Twitter handle, with a hashtag of #JalsaTouHoga, he wrote: PTI’s government is so threatened by PPPs upcoming foundation day in Multan, Punjab. They yet again attacked & arrested our workers including @KasimGillani. We will host PDM on Nov 30 come what may. @AseefaBZ will be reaching to represent me.

Jameeta e Ulma e Islam Fazl (JUI-F) Supremo Maulana Fazlur Rahman, in Multan, will chair a session of political parties included in the opposition alliance. The scheduled session will be attended by Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) senior leader Yousaf Raza Gillani, Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) Rana Sanaullah, Sajid Mir, Anas Noorani and others. The opposition leaders will address a press conference after holding consultations to announce the next strategy.
