FBR releases report detailing country’s most expensive wedding

FBR directs officials to file asset declarations

The Federal Bureau of Revenue (FBR) has released a preliminary report detailing the expenditure of Rs 2 billion on the most expensive wedding in the country.

A report sent by Chief Commissioner Regional Tax Office Amina Hassan to Member Operation FBR revealed that Rs5.5 million was paid to Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Rs5 million to Atif Aslam during the marriage ceremony.

According to media reports, Maulana Tariq Jameel was paid Rs 1 million in exchange for conducting the marriage. The club booked for the wedding party cost Rs 150 million while the two event managers were paid around Rs 4 crore.

Sundas Mustafa paid Rs. 1 crore for the most expensive wedding ceremony while Rs. 10 million was paid to the decorator for the reception’s decoration.

Interestingly, Ahsan Habib was also paid Rs 10 million for the reception’s decoration. Irfan Ahsan received Rs. 3 million and Moby Studio Rs. 2 million for other professional services at the wedding. Osama Pervez was paid Rs. 3.5 lakhs while crores of rupees were also spent on food provided to the guests at the reception and Barat.

The FBR is continuing to investigate whether taxes have been paid on all these expenses, while the tax payments of all those who arranged the marriage are also being investigated.
