On Friday, in Eastern Karachi, local news media announced that a minimum of 216 people have been tested corona positive over the past 24 hours.
Authorities from the Sindh health department performed random COVID-19 checks of teachers and students in the district east, as per the information.
The district health office reported samples were taken from 9,158 students and teachers at different government colleges and approximately 216 turned out to be positive.
From a total of 9,158 samples, 8,939 tested negative and 363 are not received yet.
The cases of infection rise from the last July and earlier in November around 5,556 cases were reported.
Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah issued a statement saying that the provincial case count stood at 148,343 after 556 new cases had been confirmed. In the past 24 hours, the province has reported 17 deaths, raising the death toll to 2,664.
