AJK Elections 2021 Results:  Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) emerged as the single largest party by winning at least 25 out of 45 seats in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) elections so far, as per the unofficial results.

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) secures nine seats and came second while Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) managed to win six seats, BOL News reported.

Results started pouring in for the closely contested election of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, with PTI leading already, the already in government party has bagged 25 seats so far, according to unofficial results.

More than 700 candidates from 32 political and religious parties contested for the 45 general seats.

Out of the 8 reserved seats, 5 are for women and 3 seats, 1 each for religious scholars, technocrats, and overseas Kashmiris. The members for these seats are nominated after the elections.

Of the 45 general seats, 12 seats are reserved for Kashmiris who had migrated from the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) in 1947 and 1965 and are settled in various other parts of Pakistan.

In the 10 districts of AJK, elections took place on 33 seats only.

According to Election Commission sources, the turnout in the Azad Kashmir elections was 58%.

Sources said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) got the highest number of 613,590 votes in the elections and the turnout of PTI was 32.5.

Sources further added that the PML-N secured 491,091 votes at a rate of 25.65 while the PPP got 349,895 votes at a rate of 18.28.

Besides, the All Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference secured 153,861 votes.

AJK has a total of 32,50,117 registered voters, including 17,8,800 male and 14,68,317 female.

There are 33 electoral constituencies in the ten districts of AJK. While 12 constituencies are kept for Pakistan-based Jammu & Kashmir refugees. Polling stands in all the provinces have been set up for the refugees.

A total of 691 candidates, including 381 belonging to a total of 32 registered political parties and a total of 310 independent candidates, are in the run to win the election for 45 seats.
