Buzdar asks for report on DG Khan bus accident

Taking notice of the bus accident in DG Khan that killed 34 people, Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar on Monday asked for a detailed report on the incident to be submitted to him in three days.

The chief minister, in a statement, said that an investigation team should be formed which should conduct a thorough inquiry into the incident.

At least 34 people were killed and more than 90 injured when a passenger bus rammed into a trailer on the Indus Highway near Taunsa bypass in Dera Ghazi Khan district.

The bus was en route from Sialkot to Rajanpur and majority of the passengers were labourers who were returning to their hometown to celebrate Eidul Azha with their families.

Soon after the incident, rescue services reached the site of the incident and shifted the bodies and the injured to DGK Teaching Hospital.

The emergency rescue teams arrived at the spot and moved the dead and injured to the district hospital.

Earlier, Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar and Interior minister Sheikh Rashid expressed sorrow over the incident.

Buzdar directed DGK commissioner to ensure quality medical treatment of the injured.

“We stand with the bereaved families in this hour of grief. All our sympathies are with them,” the provincial chief executive said.
