Eid-ul-Adha or Bakra Eid is known as the festival of sacrifice. It is the second holiday celebrated in Islam.

We commemorate this holiday to honor the inclination of Prophet Ibrahim A.S who sacrificed his son, as an act of showing his devotion to Allah.

Before the sacrifice of Hazrat Ismail A.S could be done, Allah restored the boy with a lamb, which is why to this day, lambs are sacrificed on Eid.

It is all about giving back, spending time with family, and being grateful for what we have.

Bakra Eid is celebrated around the globe house. There are a lot of fun things that you can do, and we compiled a list:

Donate food and resources: Eid is a time for giving, therefore you should take this prospect to go ahead and contribute some food and resources like books, pencils, blankets, and clothes to the needy. If you can, go ahead and donate in person to people who require it, or you can also have someone from a local shelter come pick the items from your home. Either way, this activity is very nice to do, and you will be making somebody else’s Eid nicer too.

Dress Up: Although the act is very simple, it can immediately lift your mood. With the nationwide lockdown due to the novel coronavirus, it can be challenging to encourage yourself to get up and get dressed as we all reason that we no longer have a reason to wear our pretty clothes at home. Well, now you have a good reason!

Try Secret Santa, but Eid Style: Just like secret Santa, family members can take arbitrary names out of a hat and arrange gifts for the other family member. This endeavor can help you bond with family and have fun. If you’d like you can also get out to a local orphanage and organize some gifts for them. This is a great way to enhance the holiday spirit in your home and get excited about forthcoming festivals.

Cook up a traditional dish: With the power of the internet, we have almost every recipe in the world in our hands. Go ahead and look up some delicious recipes and give them a try. Or you can also be like the rest of us and pester your Muslim friend into sending over some biriyani for you.

Print out some coloring pages: this activity is enjoyable for both kids and adults. You can find lots of various Eid-themed coloring pages on the internet, simply print them out and you and your kids or even your friends can have tons of fun coloring into them.

This movement can be super fun if you love eating. This is an event that you can do with your family and develop your relationship with your family, culture, and religion.

Eid Style Week: The ending of one week can be a week full of festivity. You can integrate various festivals in the last week, be it by welcoming family over, doing a potluck dinner, or simply taking a break and taking care of yourself and associating with your culture and religion.

Eid-ul-Adha is a day to respect the story of Hazrat Ibrahim A.S.

Spend this day with your close family and friends and if you are far away from them, go and spend some time with the needy. Always be thankful for what you have been given and don’t neglect to have fun on this propitious day!
