KARACHI: During the monsoon season, Karachi Administrator Laiq Ahmed stated a full-fledged disinfectant fumigation campaign was being started in the city in partnership with civil society to remove flies, mosquitoes, and germs.

It will be sprayed around mosques, churches, temples, schools, colleges, marketplaces, and shopping malls to offer a better environment for people, according to the Administrator, who spoke during a meeting to review the preparations for the disinfectant spray campaign.

During the meeting, Al-Khidmat Foundation offered to supply medicines used in the disinfectant fumigation campaign to the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation and to run the campaign together.

Assuring all possible cooperation, Administrator Karachi said that in mild weather, flies, mosquitoes and other germs including bacteria grow rapidly.

Regarding the possibility for rain, it was determined to make complete preparations for the disinfection fumigation campaign and to spray as much as possible, particularly near low-lying regions, using trucks and manual equipment,” he said.

He stated that the city is in the process of cleaning following Eid-ul-Azha, and that disinfectant spray is also extremely essential.

“Immediate action should be taken on citizen concerns, and vehicles should be deployed immediately,” the Administrator instructed.

The previous KMC fumigation program was also examined at the time, and the places where the spray is most required were highlighted.

Ahmed said that providing a healthy environment to the citizens is the primary responsibility of the local bodies but the citizens should also fulfill their responsibilities in this regard and try not to throw garbage on drains and roads.
