Mike Mitchell’s Movies that will always remain in our hearts
Mike Mitchell, a well-known actor and a former Mr Universe title-holder, passed away at the age of 65. The ill-fated news was confirmed by his representative who attributed his passing to natural causes. Born in Aberdeen on August 21st, 1955, Mitchell began his career as a body-builder and bagged in a copious amount of achievements including five Mr World titles and World Fitness Federation’s ‘a Living Legend’ award. Mike’s physical appearance and strong appeal led him to a break in the film industry in 1994. In memory of Mike Mitchell, this list features some of his best work as an actor.
Dark Highlands (2018)
A one of a kind survivalist film that sets itself apart from movies of its kind, Dark Highlands is a slow-burning ordeal horror movie that will keep you on your toes. The movie communicates through visuals and features and little to no dialogue. Although the story seems a little rough, Mike Mitchell, portraying “The Ghillie” in the movie, executes his role flawlessly making the movie unusually pleasant to watch.
One Day Removals (2008)
A dark comedy, Aberdonian wittiness, and a brilliantly bizarre plot, One Day Removals’ script is a true Doric phenomenon. In comparison, ‘One Day Removals’ stand right beside ‘The Sinking Feeling’. Nonetheless, The Sinking Feeling’s wry humour pales in comparison to One Day Removals’ unique method of capturing a hint of Aberdonian touch in its dark comedy. Meanwhile, Mike Mitchell cast in as the police inspector perfectly portrays a hint of confusion with his excellent performance as the strange events start to unfold, making it one of his most memorable movies.
Ridley Scott’s Gladiator is an impressive recreation of the Roman Empire impeccably depicting not only its golden era but also the horrendous cruelty that was followed to run business operations in one of the world’s greatest states. Although Mike Mitchell featured in the film as an ordinary fighter, his contribution to film led to his rise in the film industry as the film bagged 5 Oscars at the 73rd Academy Awards. In a nutshell, Mike Mitchell’s reel life performance in this movie is surely going to remind you of his real-life persona.
Mel Gibson’s ‘Braveheart’ features the story of William Wallace, a legendary Scot warrior who led his nation against the English in the year 1297. The movie not only features a brilliant spectacle and gory violence but also emotions infused in characters that manage to portray themes of friendship, love, patriotism and romance through a brilliant narrative. Mel Gibson, in admiration of Mike’s physique, presented him with an opportunity to work in this movie, kick-starting Mike’s career and making it his first achievement in the film industry.
Mike Mitchell gained immense fame in his early career as a body-builder and then his impressive physique landed him numerous opportunities to work in movies such as “Çharity” which also brought him the ‘Great Shot Gun’ award. Mike worked in ‘The Blood Island’ and ‘The Tales of Ravana’ before his passing.
