KARACHI: The Hyderabad Chamber of Small Traders and Small Industry (HCSTSCI) president Saleemuddin Qureshi has urged Prime Minister Imran Khan, National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) chief Asad Umar and Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah to extend the business hours, as the existing timings are creating problems for the small traders.

The policymakers must consider before forming a policy, which would benefit all people and would be in the larger interest of the poor masses, he said, and described the new restrictions on the pretext of the Covid-19 as anti-trader policy.

“[The] new restrictions regarding the Covid-19 pandemic are tantamount to agonising the business community, and is a blatant injustice,” he said.

The NCOC and the Sindh government are constituting new strategies that are hurting businesses, he said, adding that the new directives have perturbed traders who are being mentally tortured and economically murdered.

Hundreds of thousands of people ensured vaccination against the coronavirus, he said and quoted the NCOC and the Sindh government, as saying that there is a significant rise in the fatal coronavirus cases in the country.

He expressed surprise that this surge in the cases is beyond the imagination.

Moreover, he called for permitting the wedding halls to open their businesses with the implementation of SOPs, as thousands of people are associated with this sector and they are being rendered unemployed.

He urged all traders to follow the SOPs by wearing masks, maintaining social distance, avoiding unnecessary visits, gatherings and meetings.
